Ashland University offers a summer Master of American History and Government degree program.
The courses are offered only during the summer, a unique feature of this program, making it convenient for teachers from across the nation to enroll. While the program is designed for teachers, the program's coursework is in the substance of history and government rather than in teaching methodology.
Degree and Non-Degree Options
Students may pursue the Master of American History and Government degree, or they may take individual courses for continuing education credit. The courses are open to any qualified student, including community college faculty and graduate students wishing to transfer courses to another university.
Intensive One-Week Seminars
Each week-long course is offered for two semester hours. There are one-week sessions each summer, and students may choose to participate in one, two, three, or four sessions in any given summer.
Earn a Degree in as Few as Three Summers
Students may complete the degree program in three summers. By transferring eight hours from other universities and completing the thesis/capstone project during the academic year, the degree can be completed with three summers at Ashland. Students may take up to ten years to complete the program.
