Graduate Study in American History and Government

Focused on the content you teach each day

Ashland University's graduate programs in American History and Government are designed for teachers and other education professionals. Unlike traditional programs for educators which focus on educational methodology, our focus is on the content you teach each day.

Master's Degree and Continuing Education Options

Master of Arts in American History and Government (MAHG)
A content-based master's degree program for social studies teachers, community college faculty, museum and library personnel, professional development coordinators, and others with a personal or professional interest in history and government.

Master of Arts with a Specialization in Teaching American History and Government (MASTAHG)
A new program designed for secondary school personnel assigned to teach college-level coursework, such as dual-credit classes. The MASTAHG program blends graduate-level coursework in the best practices of curriculum and instruction with advanced content study in American history and government.

Non-Degree Continuing Education
Looking for graduate-level courses to renew or add fields to your professional teaching license? Enrolled in another graduate program and need to take additional courses for transfer? Courses are open to non-degree and continuing education students. Apply today!

Convenient Course Offerings

One-Week Intensive Summer Courses
