MAHG Program Adds Faculty Advisors
Fall 2007
Recently joining the MAHG program staff as Associate Directors and faculty advisors are two Ashland professors who already teach in the program, John Moser and Christopher Burkett. As advisors they are available during the summer and throughout the year to help MAHG students plan course schedules. They can explain the content of courses, recommend a sequence of coursework, help students navigate the course requirements in the Masters program at Ashland, and advise on transferring credits to or from other degree programs.
John Moser, Associate Professor of History at Ashland University, has taught in the MAHG program since it began. This summer he taught the course "America During the Cold War" with David Krugler. Moser is author of Right Turn: John T. Flynn and the Transformation of American Liberalism (2005) and Twisting the Lions Tail: American Anglophobia Between the World Wars (1998), both published by New York University Press. His book Presidents from Hoover through Truman, 1929-1953: Debating the Issues in Pro and Con Primary Documents (Greenwood Press, 2001) is a collection of presidential statements on the most controversial decisions of three presidencies, along with representative statements by those who opposed these decisions and useful commentary. Students may contact Professor Moser at jmoser1@ashland.edu or at 419-289-5231.
Christopher Burkett, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Ashland, taught the Session Two course, "The American Founding," with Gordon Lloyd this past summer. A Ph.D candidate at the University of Dallas, Burkett contributed the chapter "Contemporary Conservative Foreign Policy and the American Founding," to Modern America and the Legacy of the Founding, (edited by R.J. Pestritto and Thomas G. West, Lexington Books, 2006). Professor Burkett also teaches in the Ashbrook-sponsored Presidential Academy for American History and Civics (see related article this issue). Students may contact Professor Burkett at ccburkett@ashland.edu or at 419-289-5686.
